I am Nuhi, an Ethiopian record producer, songwriter, mixing engineer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Addis Ababa. For nearly a decade, I have been recognized for my unique approach to blending traditional Ethiopian sounds with modern influences, creating genre-defying music.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working alongside many talented Ethiopian artists, helping to shape their sonic identities and bring their creative visions to life. Some of the pioneers I have collaborated with include Ebne Hakim, Yashar, Roba Junior, Ahadu, Mashela Boy, and Kal Kin, contributing to the emergence of a new wave in Ethiopian music.
In addition to my studio work as a producer and songwriter, I also compose scores for movies, documentaries, and corporate media, crafting jingles, opener sounds, and other bespoke audio content. As a versatile musician, I have the skills of playing the piano, guitar, and bass. I also contribute with lyric and melody in songwriting processes. Furthermore, I have developed a MIDI-playable instrument bank featuring the traditional Ethiopian stringed instruments Kirar and Masinko. I have released a demo version of this instrument bank, allowing upcoming music producers to benefit from and incorporate these authentic cultural sounds into their musical compositions. Alongside my studio works, I greatly enjoy performing live and I have shared stages showcasing my talents as a pianist, guitarist, and DJ.
My goal is to cultivate new Ethiopian talent and share the rich culture of Ethiopian music with audiences worldwide. It is incredibly rewarding to see how my passion and skills can empower artists and bring people together through sound.
